Sexuality nonsense

I know I get in a bit of a feminist hissy quite a lot, but I think today and yesterday I've had my sexualities hat on and have been watching out for any sexuality-related nonsense.

Firstly, scientists have proven that bisexuality is an actual thing. I know right. Who'd have known? I really like that bisexuals have a validated sexuality; they must be relieved to know they're no longer abnormal, thanks Science! It's a bit insulting, isn't it? There are loads of sexualities and if we're going to have to sit around and wait for scientists to decide that they exist* then we'll be waiting a very long time.

Secondly, they were discussing polyamory on This Morning today. For those of you that don't know what polyamory is, it's basically that some people don't mind having relationships with more than one person and it's all consensual. Now, you don't have to be polyamorous if you don't want to be, 'they' don't force you to be polyamorous, they're not like those gay people who spread their gay agenda, don't worry. The thing that people on This Morning didn't seem to get is that sometimes people can do things in a way that isn't conventional and it can work out for them. I KNOW. Obviously if anyone breaks up or anything goes wrong it'll be because their relationship was in a polyamorous capacity and not because of personal differences or anything that any of those things that conventional relationships suffer from. What was really annoying was that they said polyamory was like swinging. Swinging. That thing married (monogamous) couples do because they want to spice up their sex life. I despair.

Have a The Thick of It screen-cap <3

*They already exist! They even have labels and everything, what more do you want, science?

  1. I really loose my faith in science sometimes. That study sounded ridiculous and it's worse that it had to be done in order to validate peoples lives. That said, it's good to see that the traditional black and white attitude now includes a shade of grey, hopefully it'll include a lot more. Or maybe silly polar models will be scraped to encompass peoples complexity.
Sorry, just had to comment, it's so silly.
